Helper cells (Th) (CD4+)
o Th1- activate macrophages to kill pathogens (INF gamma)
• Th2- activates Il-4, Il-5, Il-13, promoting eosinophils, mast cells, basophils and
IgE activation (linked to asthma)
• Th17- located at mucosal surfaces and uses Il-17 to recruit neutrophils to site
of infection. linked to inflammation
• Tfh (follicular helper T cells)- helps B cells differentiate and have high affinity
antibodies (uses Il-21)
